Greetings All As the regular forumites will know, I spent much of last winter removing the old fendering, filling the old fixing holes, repairing the toeboards and outer gunwales then refitting the original fender with stainless fixings (only lining it up properly this time). My fender is soli...

It it just me or is anyone else having problems posting? The site seems to have slowed right down and at times almost locks up. I tried replying to a couple of posts a while ago and gave up.

Hi all, I have 13 coats of antifoul on my Lochin 333, which I would like to remove. Pressure washing has removed the barnicles and weed but the surface is still very rough. Caustic has been suggested, what are your views and recomendations. Hope you can help, regards, Will.

Hi Guys, Well ive just received a copy of the spring 2010 news letter which includes a few details of the new proposed 339.... Hi All I am assuming everyone is busy getting their boats ready for the coming season? as no one has been posting for a bit. I have decided to have the engine lifted out of Lady Jayne cleaned and repainted before the start of the season. It will also give me a good chance to clean the bilges and paint the engi...

Hi! I just signed up as a Lochin33 owner. I am Dutch and I use my Lochin for pleasure and own it for about a year now. The last 3 years, from 1997, she got a significant refit. Still I am "improving" details. I have a Caterpillar 430hp and she is well equiped!.. Anyway hope to get in contact with di...

While crossing the 1 mile wide fairway Nort sea - Antwerp, the single prop of Tommie our 33 Lochin, picket up a piece of rope making her steer less. Out of experiance now, I can tell it's a bit scary to float steer less around in the middle of a fairway where up to 300 mtr. long ocean going vessels pass on port...

I know you going to reply: A good skipper don't need a bow thruster. but: When I asked our harbourmaster to reserve a place for Tommie, it apeared there was only one place left. It was between two fancy sailboats. Some measurements learned me that I had to make a very short 90 degree turn and there was onl...

Hi all, Wednesday morning 25 November, Chantal & I brought Tommie to Breskens marina, sailing with the tide, but against wind force 7 +. Unbelievable, but Tommie behaved as it was a nice sunny day. Yesterday I removed the Perkins engine and at last I was able to clean the inside hull where the engin...

Hi all, it has gone very quiet on here....surely someone has something to say??? Dolphins in Torbay the other day no more than 30ft away from the boat and just off Brixham breakwater...what a lovely sight! Boat should be started on the fit-out any day now, we are about 9 weeks behind already so i real...

Hi all, just a quick update. Boat delivered today (friday), to be fitted out. Unfortunately delays in moulding mean the build slot has been missed. So for about a month so she will just be sat on the cradle....but at least its here! Also saw this 'cat'? nearby, not a new Lochin development is it? SIMON...

Hi all, been to see the progress of my new boat again today and got some more photo's of her being moulded. She is a lot further along now and looking good, with the hull virtually complete and the superstructure taking shape separately. The hull is due to be released from the mould at the end of this week...

Hi Folks Seems like we are having a good year for Basking sharks. Saw up to 8 at a time yesterday with 4 working a very small patch which we drifted through. My son took the photo with a small ''point n shoot'' digital camera. The shark was only 2 meters away from the boat and clearly visible through the wat...

Hi All Had an interesting charter a few days ago. We had a BBC film crew filming White Tailed Sea Eagles from Lady Jayne. It is for a childrens wildlife programme called Deadly 60 presented by Steve Backshall. Thankfully we were lucky and the Eagles were interested and came close to the boat taking fish...

Greetings All I've been looking at the engin room ventilation arrangement on my old 33 and originally there was a series of holes in the back of the engine box with a cowel over them but these holes had been blocked off many years ago and the acoustic insulation had been applied over the top of the blocked...

Hi Everyone What about posting some pics of your favourite anchorages? I have added some to get the ball rolling, hopefully I can add more as the summer progresse and I get a chance to explore our local area more. This bay is on the south of Mull and only easily accessible by sea so seldom gets any visitor...

Hi everyone, Boy has it been a terrific week! After 2 years and 10 months (exactly) we have launched our Lochin. She was lifted from Landsborough on the 9th June, to the hardstand at the local marina. The only drama we had, was that the crane that lifted her from her cradle got bogged in my father in laws dr...

Hi All Finally got the lettering done so decided to head for Loch Drumbuie on Sunday as the weather was fantastic. Got a chance to play with my new radar/plotter works great. Hi everyone I am going through the systems on the boat and familiarising myself with where everything is and how it works. I have an issue with access to the steering ram, at present the only access is through a hole about 6 inches in diameter which unscrews and lets you fit the emergency tiller. This in m...
