I used to use a paint system for the deck of Lady Jayne. It was made by Teamac and all we could get locally. It was easy to apply and looked good when new but wore away very quickly and in 6 or 6 weeks needed another coat in the heavy foot traffic areas. I now use a GRP non=slip coating which is more difficult to apply but lasts the whole season. The new stuff came from Hartlepool glass fibre and came in a 25l drum which gives you about 3 coats of finish.

After my deck was originally laid I think resin was applied to the deck and then sand thrown on top and left to dry. After that the loose sand was brushed away. Not sure but think they then applied a top coat of resin and then some sort of epoxy paint.
My decks dont really take a hammering, but it has been down untouched for almost three years now and looks as good as new still.

thank you for your answers. I think now that I will be moving towards an anti-skidding resin and sand rather than a painting.
