I hate it when the boat gets lifted out...it makes me nervous, but Sorcerer 2 is out the water at the moment having some additional things added.
First photo, alongside waiting for lift out.
Second. Lift out.
Third. Antifouled and nearly ready.
A winch is being fitted on the starboard side to assist in picking up the anchor. We steam it up with a buoy, but the chain that hangs down off the retrieval ring is heavy and as I'm not getting any younger this will help.
The side rail is going to be cut and replaced with a hinging one to enable the rope to pass through.
A boarding ladder for the transom and a couple of hinging rails where the side entry doors are rather than the rope and pelican hooks..
Going back in the water in just over a week, having been out for almost three so far. I have antifouled her again although the bottom looked pretty good actually.
Cant wait to get her running again and getting out on some fishing trips.
How is everyone else doing?
Anyone else out the water doing maintenance?
Also, as we are getting ever closer may I be the first to wish everyone a Happy Christmas and prosperous new year.
Not been about much and have not done any boating since lady Jayne was lifted out of the water early October. Sorcerer 2 looking good, she is a cracking vessel and hope you are pleased with her.
Hi Martin and if there is anybody else out there still, hello to you too.
Yes really pleased with the boat and thanks for the compliments. She went back in the water today after maintenance and extra fittings like the winch, but its lousy down here at the moment weather wise so I haven't brought her home yet!!
Is Lady Jane out for the winter now, or do you still do some wildlife trips?
I expect you had a pretty good year for those for a change.
Just wondering, what anodes do you, or anyone else use and how often do you change them?
Are they the round 7-8 inch recessed into hull type?
We finished for the season and LJ was hauled out at the beginning of October, time for a rest now before starting the maintenance tasks in the new year. Our season was great thanks and we hardly lost any days to the weather which is a departure from the norm. We just use the normal pear shaped anodes most of the boats round here use. They are cheap and I replace then when about 1/2 worn every other year. They are fine for travelling at displacement speeds but I guess they would create considerable drag on a planing craft. On previous boats I have also used the round single hole surface mounted ones for rudder and keel band etc.
