Just want to wish everyone a Happy and prosperous new year and also hope we can keep this forum going!
So, to start things off I will post a couple of photo's of on going work on my new 40 Sportsfisherman. We are a little delayed but things are progressing well now, so these are not really quite up to date photo's.
Happy New Year to you too and everyone else who occasionally stops by here. I agree it would be a shame to lose this forum so let's try and keep it going.
Your boat is looking great the curved edge to the seating is a nice touch and I guess it turns into a double bed? The owner of the yard where I keep LJ in the winter is rebuilding a 38 at present, I will try and remember to get some pics when I am down there next. Last I heard he was building a wheelhouse with a flybridge to replace the hen house which was on there when he got it. Loads of deck space and plenty of underdeck space for fuel tanks generators or compressors etc.
I haven't been to the yard since LJ was lifted but will be doing so next week or so and meeting the engineer to plan the work we have proposed.
The weather is looking calmer than it has for weeks but still a few hefty Atlantic storms to come through before we can even think of starting to work outside.
Yes the seating will convert into a small double, but probably better as a big single bed.
I remember a 38 down in Plymouth, Electric Blue she was called. I always wanted one of those back then.
My builder recently finished building a 38 Cygnus Typhoon. It is huge, even alongside mine it looked bigger!
I know you are planning for a new gantry/mast for LJ, so managed to get a photo of the stainless one to be fitted to my boat nearer completion. It is still covered by the protective film still. The Broadband radar dome will sit on the plate in the idle underneath the GPS aerials. All of the GPS and VHF aerial's cables, along with nav light cables etc, have been run inside the tube which makes it neater I think!
Anyway, it might give you some ideas.
Regards.
Dave.

Thanks for the pic of the radar arch, something similar would be ideal for LJ.
It must be something about Cygnus boats they always look big for their length. There is a Revenge 38 nearby and she dwarfs us. I used to work on an old Cygnus 32, she was a great sea boat and always made way in the most horrendous weather. They are still popular and it is more than coincidence that 4 out of the 5 fishing boats at Ulva are Cygnus hulls, 3 original 32s and a GM33!
It must be great being able to pick a whole new electronics suite in one go, no conflicts between units etc. and being able to route the wiring through the arch will mean everything stays nice n tidy.
Just weathering the latest storm but it looks as though this one is affecting the whole of the UK. This winter will be remembered for a long time for the number and severity of storms we have had.
Hello lads,
been a while since I was last on here and I have spent the last few nights reading all the comments on the forum, I recently finished a 90% refurb on my lochin 33 "flying eagle" and then for some reason decided to put her up for sale, however since reading the forums I have got a new lase of enthusiasm from what a lot of you have achieved, I am now going to do the last 10% and a bit more, I have decided to plump for a brand spanking engine and electrics package with new shaft and prop, I took this video on an old phone, quality of picture is poor but you get an idea of the layout of her, larger wheelhouse with central helm, my hardest job of all was replacing every window seal, refurbed every window frame and replaced about half of the encapsulated nuts, found a great interior velour to trim the wheelhouse and even managed to get all my cushions re covered with newcastle uniteds platinum club lounge material, I also have a full cover but it needs a bit of tlc, I am hoping someone on here can offer advice on any products that will bring this back to life.
Good to hear you are going to finish your refurb on Flying Eagle. Will be interesting to see your progress and hope you keep us updated. Like Dave I'm wondering what engine/box you are going for?
