As you know 'Sorcerer' has gone to her new owners in Canvey Island and I am boatless again while I wait for things to be started on the new project.
I wanted a temporary replacement that I will sell on when the new boat arrives around may next year.
Probably should'nt mention it on here but I have found a very nice twin engined Mitchell that, subject to survey I will buy.
I had the pleasure of meeting Terry, one of the forum members the other day. I went to see his boat 'Mermaid' that he reluctantly has for sale due to very sad reasons that I will not divulge but am sure he will tell you about when he is ready. She is a lovely boat with many fine original features and seemed huge in comparison to 'Sorcerer'. Wheelhouse seemed bigger too with big U shaped seating to port. I would quite happily have bought her and very nearly did, but the engine would need to be replaced for my needs to something faster seeing as we go 40 or 50 miles out. Thought about doing this, but in the end decided I wanted a boat to use now because its only temporary. Nothing wrong with the engine that is in her though, just not powerful enough for my use, but it is VERY clean. Whoever does buy her will get a lot of pleasure from her and I wish him all the best and hope he gets a sale soon!
Moulding work starts soon on the next project, so photo's of the process will be posted as the build progresses.
Hi Dave, Wondered what you would do for a year being boatless again! Well im sure if you post non Lochin info it will be fine, and give some interest to all that view this forum. Terry's boat Mermaid does look great in the pictures and hope he has a speedy sale now weve got the xmas season over.
Look forward to seeing the build progress, where are you having it fitting out this time?
Sorry it's taken so long to reply to your question.
I am going to have the new boat built by the same builder as last time, Blue water boats in plymouth. they did a great job last time and my only gripe, as they know, was the time it took to build, but as I have said before it wasn't all their fault! Mouldings were delayed last time so my build slot was missed, something I am keen not to repeat!!
I have also become quite friendly with them now and they know my preferences, but they ask me how I would like specific things and where, like ideal seat height for me and how far from the console etc. When it's being built for you, it has to be right for you, even if one day you might sell it! Also they are only 25-30 miles down the road, so I can have an input too which I don't think they mind!
Can't wait to get started now, but I do have a nice Mitchell 31 to 'play' on for now!!
I don't think I have missed a lot since I didn't have a boat as the weather hasn't been up to much!
