In a friends lochin sports cruiser there was installed a nw engine, On the clock she has only 900 hrs and new he encounterd severe camshaft damage on one of the cam's.
does any one of you know where i could download the workshop manual for a D9- >500 Bhp volvo penta!!!.
will be a f...g job to change this one. speccialy with the season in sight
Hi there ... that doesn't looks good how did it happend ? you need a new rocker arm and a camshaft ...Have you heard with the penta dealers there might be a campaign on their camchafts and rocker arms????
the damage was noted the moment the cylinder cover was lifted for the first valve clearance check up, as stated in the manual. @ that moment this damage was noticed.
I started a mail conversation with the dealer that is located in the uk;
the engine was purchased I think two and a half years ago, and professionally installed always been well maintained, unfortunately today a very big disappointment ,
the engine was never abused and max loaded to a 80% of the engines ability. then she was giving a nice speed of 17 to 18 knots @ a nice fuel consumption.
Never smoking or oil consuming, only a slight change in valve tapping noise was noticed on the last fishing trip, there fore the valve clearance check was initially due.
luckily we did so and prevented a real big disaster.
I really hope that the dealer could arrange a warranty deal as the cam shaft only, goes over the 4000 euro's.
up till now no reply reseaved.
if somebody encountered the same phenomenon, please contact me.
I am urgently looking for the work shop manuals for the D9 575 from the D9A2F branch; to get all the relevant engine data to do the exchange ourselves.
If some body could help me I would be very great full. Its manual group 20 to 26 as i think
hops .... i have change the camshafts on a few d9 so i knew its nto an easy job it takes a time to do so specialy the first time... do not forget to put the engine in the zeroing place first and than find the spots at the camweel and the camtransmision so you get it back the same position as before otherwise you have total damage on your valvs and pistons.... i think you should wait for respons from your dealer befor you screw it down.... if you were her i would help you but now i just can write...any quistions just ask..
