Hello Tobias.

I have the QL interceptor plates on 'Sorcerer', made by Volvo I believe and they work very well, requiring very little maintenance and do not need anodes. You should be happy with them.

Your 575 hp engine should push 'Wind' along well but I was quite surprised at your propeller not being larger and four bladed, but I am no expert!

Are you totally refitting your wheelhouse?

Regards.

Dave.

Hi there Dave !

It´s my old propeller still on my shaft ,,I will try a 4 blade hyper form 75%blade area 25x31 first and than a 4-blade  26x27  and maybe a 3 blade 26x28.. It depends on how the boat hull respond..When i decide which one i will order a new propeller from Clementsmarine. The new skeeg will be installd too and rudder ect.

The weelhouse will be refit  some new and some place fit with thin layer veneers over the old plywood. i would have three helm-station one with the main helmstation and one i the chair and one outside within  pothauler. I do not have the time too do all things now so the most eletrical installation will cary on in the water.

How dose your D6 goes spinning on like clocks? realy nice engines.Dose your boat get a bit instable when you reach higer speed ?

Best Regards: Tobias

Hello Tobias,

Very impressed with the workmanship. Are you doing it all yourself? This is not simply replacing an engine, but rebuilding the whole boat.! Good on you!

What's the weight of your new engine, and what gear box reduction have you got? The trick is to get all that power to one propeller. It will be very interesting to see what speed you do. I think you'll do around 27-28 knots.

I have just taken delivery of my new propeller and will take some photos for you soon.

Keep up the good work!

Best regards

Harold

Thanks Harold!

Its me and my brother doing the main parts and having some help with ad-wise and steelwork and of course my family...Mutch learning by doing...

The New engine is abit heavy 1150kg and gearbox ratio is 1,1:72 .The D9 has a fantastic load respons and with its unified injectors pressing the fuel by 1800Bar it has a hudge toure .I fit a Slir valve So Slow Speed is available. Can not fit more than a 26 " propeller so the pitch will be high. I have a good expert panel to ask at my work.. we hope for 27kn plus but its not the most important thing.  sound and comfort is the main issues.

The boat is our dream boat sens we were young kids seeing it every day, so we put all our energy to it now and having the material with us.

Best Regards

Tobias

Hello Tobias.

As you know I have twin D6'S in 'Sorcer'.  I like them, they sound great and I have plenty of horsepower at 740 total.  If pushed to the limit (30.5 knotsbiggrin) she will need a little bit of fine tuning with the interceptor blades, but most of the time we cruise at around 22 knots and she is fine.

She went back in the water yesterday and coming around from Dartmouth we were doing 24 knots at 3,000 rpm and she will rev to over 3,500. Nice clean antifouling helped I expect!  When she was first commissioned she would rev to 3,650 and they (volvo) said that was correct for light loading and max would be around 3,500 loaded. There were 4 people onboard and full fuel tanks at the test time, but I have not run with anything more anyway, although the stuff that keeps being brought onboard adds to the weight.....I must have 50 kilo's of lead weights!

I think my props are 21x21.5 but were initially 22x22. All I know is I am more than happy with performance!!!

Good luck with your ongoing work and keep us posted.

Regards to all.

Dave.

Hi Dave !

That's a impressive speed and performance and a really nice Boat you have got there...i like the D6 engine.

I just picked up our new chairs secondhand but in nice shape rebuilding them for helm-station and autopilot steering.

I mount 2x 30W led lights under water ... I think my younger family member like that and me ofcourse....Maybe  i could get the herring together with them to.

Best Rgegards :

Tobias

Hello Tobias.

Thanks for the compliments about 'Sorcerer'.

Those sprung seats you have look good and I am sure will be very comfortable! I have similar, mine are Kab high backs with head rests and air compressor but I usually just have them down as far as they go. Nice seats though.

Good luck

Dave.

Hello Tobias.

Thats a fantastic top speed you have managed to get so far and as Geoff says, have you managed to wipe the grin off your face? I know when I saw 30.5 knots on 'Sorcerer' I was beaming from ear to ear! You have quite a bit less HP than me too so that really is excellent speed, but I guess I carry a bit more weight with two engines. Who knows maybe a little more to come when everything is sorted, then you can have the trophy for fastest Lochin!!

Are'nt the Humphree interceptor blades automatic, keeping the boat at the correct trim without any manual input?

Keep us posted on progress.

Regards.

Dave.

Hi ! The Humphree is automatic list and trim  they also can keep the boat up when its turn i haven't that function now. I don't think more speed is focus now. just get it done for use ,,, We going to get to our home harbour tomorrow,,, we hope fore a nice and easy trip... I need to change my propeller shaft and cutlass-bearing i have to e mail clementsmarine ...

Best regards : Tobias

That is looking fantastic all glassed in and flowcoated. Your workmanship certainly inspires me and others im sure on this forum.

Looks great is it white or light grey? .........now making me think about reflowcoating mine and getting rid of the blue deck on my Lochin.

Keep up the good work

Anyway, good luck with the ongoing work. please keep us posted with photo's etc.

Hi Tobias,

They're great sea boats aren't they? I crewed on a Lochin 33 Sportsfisherman before we bought our workboat, and after working on Aquastars etc I just preferred the Lochin in rough seas. We did an 60 mile crossing in a force 5-6 and I've never felt safer on a 'small' boat. Yours is looking great after the work you've done - happy fishing!

Cheers,
Lee
