Synchonous windscreen wipers.

Hi all, hope you've had a good season.

Have any of you fitted synchronous windscreen wipers? I would like to upgrade my wipers to 2 speed with intermitent. I'm quite happy for the passenger to operate their own wiper which would leave the other two to be modified.
The vetus control units look nice, are there other manufacurers or options?
Car wipers arn't an option because thay have to last in a marine environment.
Regards, Will

Hi Will,
I think everyone has left this forum as it has gone very quiet!
Chas told me some time ago about Hepworth's having a sync control. Unfortunately it only works with their wipers I believe. As my boat builder was fitting a different make I did'nt have the synchronization in the end.
Good luck.
Dave.

Thanks Dave.
At the moment I'm looking into what's available and the costs involved.
The two wipers that are fitted are single shaft (Vetus and TMC) and look almost the same. I think they are wired up wrong as they are both single speed and don't park.
Hopefully by the time she comes out of the water I'll know what options are open to me.
Regards,
Will.

Hi Guys

Not gone away just not doing anything interesting boatwise at the moment. I like the idea of synchronous wipers or even self parking ones. I have 2 fitted which are about as basic as you can get switch on - wipe - switch off - hope they are near the edge!!! One day when I have finished upgrading everything else they are on the wish list.

Should have gone fishing today but there is a cold North wind blowing here on Mull and me being just back from 28deg in Cyprus wimped out. Not much else happening, just waiting to get the boat back to the yard for the winter. I guess everyone else has finished hence the lack of posts.

Dave - You should be nearly ready for the water by now, hope the launch goes well, we are looking forward to some pics of her in the water.

All the best guys

Martin

Hi Gents, I'm here

It does go very quiet on here at times and I've been up to my neck in work lately.

Yes I did fit three new B Hepworth pantograph arm wiper assemblies with a synchroniser control and bl00dy good it is too!

There are three intermittant speeds, on and flat out. There is also a wash wipe facility and you can switch any combination of wipers off.

The synchroniser would probably work with other wipers as most use a Bosch drive motor. If there are enough wires coming out of the motors to get your wipers to park, they would probably work with the synchroniser.

The synchroniser only seems start each wiping cycle after the slowest one has reached the park position.

Your boat's looking very good indeed Dave!

Cheers

Chas

Hi all,

I've emailed various companies and haven't received a single reply. Obviously these wipers are recession proof and business is so good that my custom isn't required.
Now the boat is out of the water, I've had a look and found that my wipers are twin speed and self parking. All I have to do is wire them correctly.
I've also found that Landrover Defender washer jets are perfect for boats as there all plastic and have over 1" of thread.
Regards,
Will.
