Hi, To all, This is Robby from Cormorant, after a good hard look into cormorant history i have found a bit more information, i found the person who bought Cormorant into Ireland back in 1993, he got Cormorant from Dickies of Bangor, a man called Paul Daniels from Swansea had her, he kept it in Swansea marina back in the 80s, and was into Diving and he worked at engine rebuilds... and was into old bikes, cormorant was also kept in Solva, South west of Fishguard for a number of years, she was out of the water there for a few years, from what i know so far, i think he named it Cormorant, im trying to find out its real name....... can anyone help me on this one..... ? who had it before Paul Daniels
Hi, just to let you know, I found the Cormorant on the side in Solva Harbour, West Wales in 1988. It belonged to Mr Davies who had suffered a heart attack and hadn't been able to use the boat for a few years and it was under loads of shredded canvas and looking a bit sorry for itself. Mr Davies had used the boat extensively in the Irish Sea and around the West Wales coast line.
I bought her and with the help of Mr Davies, who did all the arranging she was put on the back of a low loader and transported to Cardiff Bay where she was stored at Cambrian Marine. I worked on her, launched her and sailed her out of Cardiff Bay (before the barrage was even built) and into the Bristol Channel.
I sold the boat in 1989 through the Cambrian Boat yard Brokerage and she was bought by the owner who took her to Swansea.
She was not the first Lochin to be built but she was built for one of the company directors and as such had a really nice high spec (for the day) finish on her.
When I owned her the wheelhouse was not enclosed. She had a single Perkins engine fitted.
Its really nice to see her still sailing.
I now have another Lochin 33 which I keep on the south coast of Devon.
