Reading your story I think I am lucky that at least the windows in tommie's wheelhouse are ok. ( all hardened double glass) The 3 small one's in the front where covered with silicone witch I removed this winter, so when she's out in the rain I expect to find out very soon why all the silicone was there. The guy who sold me the engine had indeed 'marine' in his company name. In fact we bought an overhauled Perkins Sabre 300 TI from him, as I would keep the 265 for spare parts and had noting to change on engine fundation, exhaust etc. When the engine was ready he send me some pictures but on one of them I did see a rotary fuel pump. As all 300's and 265's has an inline pump, I told him it was max. a 225 and was not planning to go lower in hp. A few days later he offered the Iveco as an extreme good engine complete with new electrical panel and new gearbox. Meanwhile we had paid, so I prayed to all known gods, kept my fingers crossed and ordered the Iveco. Offcourse nothing apeared new when the engine arrived.
The prop I ordered, via there dealer, at a well known company here in holland for more then euro 1200,- and didn't expect that a cheap Chinese propellor would arrive. The dealer had not even to return the prop, but was asked to cover the hole and hang it somewhere on the wall for decoration.

sorry for delay in reply but only just found your message.
Not sure which holidays you are referring to about the boat being ready, but it isn't going to be finished for a long time yet and I am not over the moon about it....we are now already four months behind!
Was going to have 6 inch (152.4mm to the converted) D fendering around the boat the same as Robbie on 'Alison Rose' until I felt the weight of it.....crikey a foot long piece is as heavy as a big bag of shopping (ask the missus how heavy that is), so going around the whole boat would add a tremendous amount of weight. I am now having the 4 inch (101.6mm) fendering as is normally used. The 6 inch did not look good on my white hull either, although it looks fine on 'Alison Rose's blue hull.

Dave,
I don't think you need to worry about the weight if your fendering, especially with 740hp in your lochin.! it will be a low flying aeroplane! biggrin.gif

Hi Robbie,
yes I know I'm probably over cautious with the D fender size, but as I do have the 740 hp I might as well get the most out of it......if I can afford to put diesel in the tanks!
How did you do the scuppers on Alison Rose.....what was the tube made from?
You do realise your boat is going to be 'cloned', as I am having a very similar bathing platform to yours as well!
Kab suspension seats now ordered......in fact nearly everything is on site ready to be fitted......we just need to get on with it!

Hi Dave,

We used 110mm Vetus GRP bowthruster tube to form the scupper holes. We just holesawed a 110mm hole inside and out, slid the pipe in, and sealed it with marine grade Sikaflex, inside and out (use masking tape to give a neat line around the tube) and then from inside the hull, lying in the bilge we put around 5 layers of Fibreglass and matting over the tube and heavily overlapping the hull and ****pit moulding to bond it all together, the same way you would fit a bow thruster tube. Worked well and gave a neat finish.
p.s. Its an honour to have someone building a clone of our boat! Kab seats.... Now THEY are heavy!

Robbie, thanks for the information regarding the scuppers.....oh, I did opt for the bronze tint windows too.....they are also waiting to be fitted!
The KAB seats may be heavy but if I can't afford the fuel at least I will be comfortable as I could be spending a lot of time sitting on the boat........just like most of the 'gin palace' owners do in the marinas!! (oops, wonder how many I have just offended?).
