My Aqua Bell 27 is powered, and I use the term loosly, by a pair of ford 2.5DI marinised Transit engine, they are great engines but pretty sluggish. I was looking at the TDI versions of the same plants but firstly they are hard to find, and secondly the exhaust pipework would be a real mare to fit in between the transom and the heat exchanger. I had an epiphony!!!!! thought I would spell it wrong too, but you all know what I`m saying.......... Rather than using turbochargers, how about fitting superchargers, they are belt driven and I wont have to worry about exhaust heat. I am fully aware that the timing or mixture might need playing with and possibly bigger injectors but I think it a doable concept. Ive been looking on youtube at rednecks who have supercharged thier box standard diesels and it looks like a great idea. Im not looking to get huge performance out of a 27 but a bit more wouldnt go a miss...............
The best answer would be not to try and tweak them but replace with something with a bigger HP - I think this is a case of square peg in a round hole. Those engines aren't built for that kind of tweaking. Are you on shafts or drives?
