Summer

Hi All

Not had much to report lately other than a distinct lack of Summer. I don't know what it is like where everyone else lives but here on the west cost of Scotland it has been wet n windy for most of the time. Still working  hard when we can get ouit and had some superb wildlife sightings this year especially of the eagles that live and nest in our area. My eldest son who now crews aboard LJ took this pic last weekend when we were out on a family trip enjoying the 1 fine day that week.

Hope everyone is getting plenty of use out of their boats, we just serviced the engine in LJ a few days ago, that's 2400 hours on the new engine in 5 years which is what the old engine did in 12! so she is certainly getting more use in my ownership than the last few.

Cheers for now, hope you like the picture

Martin

Hi Martin.

I'm still here but not many others around mate.no

Lady Jane looks super in that picture....really nice. I remember seeing you and the boat on TV a few weeks ago, on one of the wildlife programs but cant remember which one. Fame at last eh!

You are certainly making good use of your boat, so must be earning a crust.

We were out on Saturday fishing. Beautiful day but the fishing was slow, until I tried a very small wreck I have never fished before. It came up trumps and we landed a few good Ling and Pollack to save the day!! Sorcerer 11 has now done 440 hours in just over three years.....thats double my first Sorcerer. Might be out again Thursday too.

Cheers.

Dave

Hi Dave

Aye TV fame at last don't think I will give up my day job yet though lol.

An absolute cracker of a day here so we are off fishing on our day off - it's too good not to be out on a day like today.

Shame no-one uses this forum much these days. When I bought LJ it was a valuable source of information which I greatly appreciated and I still pop by occasionally to see who's about. Who knows it might pick up again.

Cheers, all the best

Martin

Morning all,

Haven't been around an awful lot since we sold up. I exchanged brief messages with Kees regarding his Lochin, but unfortunately my Dad's health took a turn. He's been diagnosed with vascular dementia at the age of 58, so any thoughts of boating has to be put on the back burner for now.

Lovely to see your Lochin photo's and I'm certain we'll be back on the water some time soon, just not as soon as we hoped. Nice to see that you're making the most of the weather and getting out when you can, too. It's funny to explain to people who aren't from a boating background, but there's just something about it that is so addictive, and something about Lochin's that only serves to add to the pull of it.

All the best,
Lee

Hiya lee

Sorry to hear about your Dad, 58 seems awful young but these things seem to be happening more and more to younger folk.

I know what you mean about boating once bitten there is no getting away from it. It will soon be the end of our season and while, I am looking forward to holidays and down time I'm not relishing being without my boat.

Cheers for now

Martin

Hi Lee.  Good to hear from you again as there doesn't seem to be too many that come on here now, which is a real shame!!

Sorry to hear about your dad too.

I may talk to your brother occasionally on FB.....Jason??

Nearly the end of the summer season for most I guess but Sorcerer 11 will stay in the water a few more months yet I think. The Pollack fishing should improve now. We had several last week and although nothing bigger than 10lb they were in great condition.

All the best, Dave

Hi all,

With pain in my heart I sold Tommie today, a fully worn backbone forced me to do.

Sorry to see you've finally had to let the boat go, Kees. It's not a nice feeling at all.

Jason is the guy we sold the boat to in 2015. Hard to believe he's owned her for 3 years come February, time really does fly sometimes.

I've been looking around and there are quite a few nice Mitchell's knocking about on the market, lovely accommodation on them too. Might be something we look a bit more at during 2018.

Cheers,
Lee

Hi Kees.

Really sorry to hear that Tommie has gone, I know how much you and your wife liked her. Also sorry to learn of your back problem....I hope something can be done for you.

Lee.   Mitchells are great boats. I had one for a year whilst my current Lochin 40 was being built. She was a twin engined version with two Perkins Sabre 225's and would do 25 knots. To be honest if I hadn't been getting my 40 I may have kept her.  I did find headroom a bit restricted and constantly banged my head on the wheelhouse roof overhang in c0ckpit, wheelhouse door entry... and going below into fore cabin, so I put foam pipe insulation on these to soften the blow. hmm

Cheers

Dave
