Just taken delivery of my new autopilot! I've gone for the Raymarine SPX10 course computer with the ST70 control head. The shock was when I found out I also needed the ''backbone'' cable to make it all work which was an extra £160!!! With the pump and compass etc. it all arrived this AM. Just spoken to my sparky who will install it all.
The best price I could find was from Marine Electronic Services Ltd who were also very helpful and offered to assist with advice when fitting if needed. Hopefully it will take some of the strain from next years trips, I am also hoping the pre-set ''patterns'' will come in useful when loitering in an area waiting for wildlife. It should also communicate with the existing plotter if I can get it all to work.
Won't be long now, hoping to be back on the water at the end of March and getting ready for the new season.
Hi Martin, Sounds good, unfortunately its not until you order something all the extra's required to fit are fully explained. I too would like to fit an Autopilot but it will have stay on the wish list for a while i think. I like the idea of the pre set patterns and may be very handy especially when drifting marks and wrecks etc. Let us know how the installation / set up goes
Just found out I need to fit check valves between the autopilot pump amd the helm pump as well. Haven't dared to look how much they cost but I don't have an option now as the rest of the kit is sat on my dining room floor!
