Lochin Owners Visit

Hi All,

I recently enjoyed a pleasureable visit from Simon Thomas and Harold Timmer. It was great to see you both and nice to catch up with news and also put a face to a name meeting Harold. Just wished i had a little more time before i had to leave for work.

Harold, thankyou for your advice also, I have started cutting back the toerails and sidedeck with P400. Although taking ages by hand the results are fantastic! Im going to compound and polish when complete... eventually!

Simon, i really liked the mock up for the new 339 wheelhouse , thankyou for your time showing me.

The 339 will be a fantastic update to the Lochin range with traditional yet modern lines with a twist. Look forward to seeing a completed craft biggrin.gif

Regards..... Geoff

Hi Geoff and everyone,

I also really enjoyed the visit to meet you and see Blue Swell. It is an absolute credit to you how you have kept the boat. Even the ****pit floor even looked brand new, and in fact I thought it had been painted, but you convinced me that it was still the original gelcoat floor from when she was new.

You mentioned you are doing the toe rails with 400 but dont' forget to finish off with 1200 grit. It's very laborioius work but the result is well worth it.

After rain my tow rail also gets black, and it must come from the gunnel rubber. I will try tyre black to see whether that will stop further deterioration of the rubber. She is due out for a scrub before xmas so will plan the gunnel work at the same time.

What sort of stuffing box does Blue Swell have?

All the best, hope to hear from you soon.

Regards

Harold

PS Do you keep the boat in the water for winter?smile

Hi Harold,

Im going to finish off with 1200. Currently working up the port side, it certainly is laborious, just some music and passing comments to pass the time although doing it in stages.
Blue Swell is staying afloat for the winter as usual with a lift and hold planned early next season. Im using Micron Extra and finding that it is doing two seasons, with a scrub inbetween depending on growth. It seems whatever i have tried on the Shafts, Props and Rudders doesnt last and this is the usual loss of speed/ fuel consumption increase.
The stuffing boxes are the conventional 2 stud pull in type with ptfe packing ( repacked last year whilst afloat).

Best wishes Geoff
