We think we could use it as a holiday and fishing vessle. I would like to try driving som season makrill and lobster charter buisnise. But we have alot of work left ... Do you know any who made a selfdraning asterndeck ? proposal of furnishing ect....
My Lochin was originally the ultra short wheelhouse version and was used a s a creel boat fishing crabs and lobsters so had a self draining deck from new. It then had an extension on the wheelhouse to make it bigger. I don't know the set up on other Lochins but am sure Chas or Harold will be able to help you out.
We use to fish herring in winter/ sring time and summer time makrill ,krabbs and autumn lobster, krab, ... our plaice as gone somewhere i don´t know and the kod is very smal and few...
Do you have any picture on your deck ?
regards
Tobias

Welcome to the forum. Nice to see some people from Sweden doing up a Lochin. In the late 70's lots of Lochins were sold to Sweden. Did your Lochin arrive in Sweden as a new boat when she was imported? We have just done up our Lochin 33 here in Australia (I am originally from Holland) and after almost 3 years of restoration she is back in the water. 98% finished - you know what it is like!! Are they ever really finished? Looks like you have done a fantastic job. What engine are you running? I'm running a Yanmar 7.1 lt at 420 hp. It's also an extended wheelhouse like yours. What year is yours?
We have attached 2 photos from our self draining deck whilst she was still being restored. The engine cover I use as a seat (my wifes day bed) and the hatch I made myself, even though it took me a long time to finish, it's absolutely 100% water tight.
Do you know what happened to the fire tender "Fenix"? She was a Lochin 33 extended wheelhouse with exactly the same windows as yours, and she also had a fly bridge. Her hull colour was red and stationed in Ockero.
Really nice Lochin you got there.... and thank you for the pictures...... We run a VolvoPenta TAMD 71 A on 350hp and the boat is new from import 1976 fitted with a 6 cyl ford....Then it served as a millitary boat for several year untill 2009 when we bought it . The Fenix we tried to by a few years ago when öckerö firedepartment sold it but we misst it ... i can se that almost every Lochin has a trim i the bow (spray deflector) ist it a own made trim or from later production? We shall do a selfdraining deck and change furnishing.Your deck look intresting how did you do ? we have about 65% left to do but we really like this boat so we keep on..... im hapy to find this forum .....
Regards
Tobias

Hi Tobias, Welcome to the forum! I am also a "fresh" member. I bought my Lochin 33 last year and it is fitted out with a 430hp Caterpillar. She is moored in the Netherlands. I believe a boat is never finished so I am always "improving" things. Anyway hope you enjoy your Lochin for the coming years Cheers, Wouter
You have realy beautiful Lochin .. Im about too buy those spraydeflectors of simon.. Dose those afecting the planing stadge or ist it only antispraying?
I'm not too sure that the spray rails make much difference to lifting the bows but they make a massive improvement to the ammount of spray. They turn a "wet boat" into a "dry boat".
If you have any questions about the method of fitting them, I would be very happy to help.
hi all, This week Tommie goes in the water, we waited 6 weeks for another prop and after fitting it we let it run to see if there where any vibrations. It was running very quiet, to quiet in fact, when we checked the rpm's it appeared that the gearbox (without type plate) had no ratio of 1:1,5 as ordered, but was 1 : 2,5. We send an angry mail to Westend Marine, but dint get as expected no reaction at all, so we had to order a new gearbox at a local ZF dealer and wait another 2 weeks, but at least we have a gearbox we can trust now.
Hi Kees and all, I expect you will be glad to have Tommie back in the water this week and I hope the new gearbox is okay this time! Some dealers seem to have a total lack of interest or can't be bothered and wonder why business is bad.....they don'y deserve to survive! I have dealt with a couple of these when sourcing various new parts for my boat! Anway, at least you have a boat to go in the water...I'm still waiting PATIENTLY for mine to be completed!! Regards. Dave.
Beste Kees, Itis a shame that there are still businesses around who only want to sell you a product and then provide no after sales service. Don't worry it is here in Oz too!
Your set up looks like a million dollars.I also noticed that you have a trust bearing. I can't say I have seen it too often in a Lochin. Is the engine running ok?It's good that you can do 19 knots. What speed did the previous engine do? Have you finished the inside yet?
Beste Harold, I mounted the trust bearing in combination with a Pyton CV drive shaft. It eliminates the need of exact alignment between the propshaft and the gearbox and yearly checking it. Further the engine can rest on soft rubber engine mounts as the prop don't push against the engine, so no engine or propshaft vabrations in Tommie no more. The engine is running very fine, but smokes a bit for a few seconds when I go suddenly full trottle, see picture, I will check the turbo pressure this weekend. With the Perkins 265 the topspeed was 13 kn. at 1558 rpm shaftspeed with a 3 blade 21 x 20. While waiting for parts, I had all the time to finish the inside and repaint the hull again. Last Saturday I went fishing and as you see they where waiting for me.
