Hi Newbie,My name is Brian Vandenberghe. I've seen your interest in the Cyclone 26.I'm having my Cygnus Patrol 30 built at Murphy Marine. It will be ready in May next year. It will be used as a demo boat and I will do the dealership of the Cyclone and Patrol in Europe. I will keep it in a Belgian Marina for viewing. The boats are built to CE standard Cat B and it is completely built according to the Cygnus specs. The yard has already produced some hulls. It is our intention to deliver the vessels in any stage of completion. The Cyclone was first built in a smaller 26-foot version. The longer 30-foot hull permits easier planing with approximately the same engine power. It is therefore more stable and economical and has the advantage of additional deck space. If you require more information you can contact me at info@maqs.be. Cheers!

BE and Brian,

The contact details of the yard in Edinburgh are info@workboats.eu and tel. no is 07941938981.

I would definately look at the Cyclone 30 produced by Murphy Marine, I live about 4km from this yard and the workmanship is extremely good and as Brian said the 30 is far superiior to the 26 version

Hi anybody,
just wondering if there is anyone left on this site or if everyone has rushed off to join the Cygnus appreciation society??
I might as well add my two penneth worth anyway. Personally, I always liked the look of the Cyfish 33 and fished from one out of Teignmouth several years ago called Trident, owned by Neil Gamble. I think she went commercial fishing from Newlyn in the end. They were good boats so I am surprised more of them aren't seen around. I know a couple have appeared on find a fishing boat, but the last one I saw recently was in Ireland in april this year called 'Ken Bencent'. I had gone there to look at a Lochin 333 sports cruiser with a view to purchase. Also, in the same little harbour in Cahersiveen, near Kerry, was an Interceptor 37 which was something else I had considered before buying the Lochin mouldings.
Anyway, progress on mine is very slow at the moment so nothing else to say or no more photo's to post as yet, but hopefully soon!!!
Regards to all from a Lochin fan.
Dave.

Hi Dave

It goes quiet on here from time to time.

I've heard roumers that the Cyfish 33 hull was based very closely on a Lochin.

I gather that Cygnus used to build Lochins and they were called something like the "Falmouth Fast Fisherman".

There used to be a Cypilot in our marina and the hulls looked exactly the same below the waterline. Very nice boat though!

Cheers

Chas

Hi Chas,
yep, I heard the same about the Cyfish being very much like a Lochin and I think Cygnus actually started building with a Lochin, as you say, the 'Falmouth Fast Fisherman'. Wonder where the moulds for the cyfish went.....not that I am wanting one now my Lochin is on its way!!!
Was your bow thruster much trouble to fit?
Cheers .
 Dave.

Finger Crossed,

I live within 10 miles of Caherciveen, and know the "Ken Brencent". I am also familar with the Lochin 333 you saw in the marina and the Interceptor 37. You are right that the Cyfish is very like the Lochin, although I think that the Lochin is much softer into weather than the Cyfish. There is a Lochin that runs from Portmagee in the summer doing trips to the Skelligs and its Skipper is very pleased with the seakeeping qualities although he says she does throw up a bit of spray.

I would be interested to see where the Cyfish moulds went, also I see on a website an advertisment for Lochin shown a model 339, it this a misprint or is there a new model on the way. There are no further details on the Lochin website.

0.jpgHello DMC,
You live in a very nice part of Ireland. I went to Cahersiveen in april and the weather was brilliant.....unlike here now!!! Derek, the guy that took me for a run in the 333 I was interested in goes tuna fishing about 90 miles out with good success. He has apparently done up a few Lochins in his time as well. The boat 'Morna Joan', is for sale on the Lochin brokerage site.
I too, found the banner on Find a Fishihg boat for Lochin, with the 339 advert....looks like the Offshore 40.....Simon????
Cheers,
Dave.

Hi Gents

I found that banner as well but when you press the link, it takes you to the Lochin web site but there is no further information.

It looks like a 333 to me but with forward sloping wheelhouse windows.

Can't understand why the banner's there without the information being on the main site though!

Cheers

Chas

Hi Folks

For anyone interested here is a link to the people building the Cygnus Cyclone

http://www.findafishingboat.com/detail.php?aid=15604

Good boats there is one working round here. I used to work on a Cygnus 32 creel boat, been out in some serious weather and the boat was fantastic. Still glad I've got a Lochin though.

Regards

Martin
