Heating

Hi All,

Well with the 60/40 split on duty allowance for propulsion and domestic i have removed 2 Heater units fitted to Blue Swell for an upgrade.
These units were Volvo and basically blown warm air across heater matrix. Both units were leaking coolant and only 1 fan worked.
So with decision made an Eberspacher D4 unit was fitted by my Local Volvo Dealer Felton Marine.. I know yes i could have fitted myself but work comitments and time really.
I have settled for 2 outlets, 1 in wheelhouse and 1 in foward cabin , but have connected exsisting Windscreen Demisters to this but need to close off atleast 1 outlet to push heat to windows so thats just minor work in progress.
The D4 unit and optional 7 day timer are great especially with this weather and i have set a low heat and timed on 3 times aday.smile.gif
As for fuel usage about 1.5 lts a week if on constantly at low temp i seem to remember from the spec but unfortuantely their in boat lol.

Attached pics show Eberspacher fitted in Starboard engine bay with all componets mounted on a flowcoated ply.

Hope of interest

Geoff.............

Hi Geoff

Nice installation!

You may need a booster fan for your demisters due to the air resistance of the system and the need to get a certian ammount of air through the demister nozzels for them to actually demist the full height of the screen.

You were going to try to end me details of your demisters, Im still considering fitting them to mine.

Cheers and all the best

Chas
