I've got a single Perkins Sabre M300ti, it's not particularly quick; about 12k for economical cruise at 2000rpm and probably about 18k flat out at 2500rpm.

What have you got in that nice Mitchell? And post a picture on this thread.

Here is our Lochin 333 Harbour Pilot 'Alison Rose' She is fitted with a 480hp Volvo Penta TAMD75P and has a top speed of 25 knots and cruises fully loaded at 20 knots. We built her from a bare hull and wheelhouse mouldings from Lochin. We have been VERY impressed with her sea keeping. A truly go anywhere boat

Hi all sorry for not getting back sooner but I had a little maintenance work to do getting ready for the coming season the usual Antifoul and Anodes. I use her as a sea angling charter boat in Donegal Bay.
Home port Bundoran Lat 54°28.719N. Long 08°17.273W.
Yes she is Pretty much a brand new only three and a half years old here is a photo of her as she arrived here straight from the mould 13/ 09/ 2004.

Chas, some build pics as promised. I think we totally underestimated how much work was involved in the project! A major task for sure but the results were worth it. First pic shows the hull as we got her and the first job was to fit the 6" fendering all around the hull. Pretty tedious job really. Then we moved on fitting the windows. (Lots of jigsawing and itchy arms!) We went for the bronze tint windows which gives it a nice subtle dark tint look from the outside but transparent looking out. We then moved on to the engine & fuel tank install. We were torn between the Caterpellar 420hp and the volvo 480hp but the extra 60hp of the volvo won us over. Next pic shows the non slip deck going down. Thats the grit shown, we then put grey flowcoat over it. Next shows the stainless steel fabrications going on, umpteen bolts and lots of sikaflex! Also a few of the interior and the finished product! Hope this site can cope with all the pics!

I can understand what you mean about underestimating how much work would be involved, I totally underestimated how much would be involved in doing a gradual restoration. Well done, I'll definately be picking your brains in the future!

I replaced my windows last year but it wasn't as simple as taking the old ones out and putting new ones in. For a start the old ones were pig ugly, they didn't line up with the lines of the superstructure properly and the thickness of the GRP on the wheelhouse varied enormously. I also didn't like the way the extended wheelhouse had been joined so it was a case of grinding, glassing up, gel coating, polishing and sawing. I know exactly what you mean about the itchy arms, sometimes, I looked like a Homepride flour grader but harder!

Obviously, I didn't have a clean sheet to work on as the boat was in the water rather than under cover so I couldn't make drastic changes but I think it was a worthwhile improvement. I've still got to do the joint over the roof yet but that can wait.

Chas, what a difference with those windows! Really transforms the boat! I like the kick upward to the bottom of the windows to the rear! In fact i wish mine had that now! Actually, the first time i logged on to this forum i was looking at the pictures of your boat and thought to myself "i thought the earlyer 33's only came with the short wheelhouse?" Its very well done the wheelhouse extension. Not without "blood, sweat & tears i'm sure"! Ah well, thats boating! She's looking good. Here's a pic of our Boat at St-Kilda a couple of years back. A stunning place 50 n.m. from nowhere!

Thanks Robbie. I have owned since Nov 2005, A lochin i always admired in Newhaven and always been in private ownership since she was built. Im the 3rd owner but the previous had for 16yrs and the 1st only months. A twin engined Lochin with 200hp Volvo's.

----what a super pic of the 33 in st kilda - did you take a swim to get it! i took my 38 (bone idle) there some years ago & agree that it's a stunning place - as is fairisle between the orknies & shetland. my technical ability does not extend to posting pics of my boat but it is comprehensively shown on the lochin brokerage site where you can see a fine shot of my slippers! - makes a change from engines. being probably the only lochin never fished or dived from, i also carry a fruit bowl & you will see that simon has chosen to feature this as well to ensure a quick sale

Micheal, A-ha-ha! The picture was taken from a Rib that came along with us to St-Kilda! Its an awe-inspiring place for sure. The Fair Isle is definately on my list of must visit destinations also! Havent managed a trip there yet mind. It took me long enough searching through the brokerage pages to find The Lochin 38 with slippers and a fruit bowl in the pics! Cracking boat, a serious long distance cruiser that one. What are you going for next?

That certianly is a superb shot of your boat tucked in under that cliff. I bet someone's got their eye glued to the sounder.

The wheelhouse extension looks OK now but the original execution was sound rather than elegant. I could start a separate thread on that one if anyone's interested.
